Summer was a whirlwind of activity at the park. Visitation was up about 10%, with a lot of visiting foreign students and home school groups. Staff was working on a number of projects designed to improve public services. One of those was the opening of the Southern Pacific caboose. After some cleaning, a few repairs, window replacement, new chair covers, moving a model train exhibit inside the caboose, and development of interpretive information, the caboose is now open to the public on a daily basis. Comined with the ore showel and hay derrick, the front fround Legacy Exhibit is now a pillar of interpretaion for the park.
